I went to my Google Reader just a moment ago and was told that it won't be available after July 1. But that's how I read all my friends' blogs, and I don't know of any other way to keep them all in one place. Do any of you?

Yes - there are other feed readers. I think there are other web-based ones, and also apps you download. I can't tell you any PC versions, but I ditched Google Reader a long time ago and now I use an app called NewsFire. It's Mac only though. I'd just google (oh the irony) "feed reader apps" and see what you get.

Holy cow, I had no idea there were so many feed readers out there! I'm sure I'll find one that works for me, but there are a ton to pick from!

Apparently there is a life hacker post about what options are out there now that g-reader is phasing out? I haven't looked into it yet.

Thanks! I'm checking it out right now. Who knew there were so many feed readers out there?

I'm totally freaked out by this too. I check Google Reader about 5 times a day, and have new blog entries in my feed every time. I'm sure there'll be lots of talk about this before July? I hope something as good comes in to fill the void, but I don't know what i'm going to do either.

Haha, cute baby! Is that one of your kids?

I decided to go with Old Reader. Apparently it's a lot like Google Reader used to be, and as I only used Google Reader to read others' blogs (though I guess you can do a lot more), it works for me.

And I've been reading that there are a lot of people unhappy with this change.

It is a cute baby! Nah, it's just a pic I found on the internet to express my displeasure. :)

I'm really unhappy about Google Reader too. Most of the local bloggers I know (who are much more savvy about this stuff than I am) are already organizing a mass emigration to Bloglovin. So you might want to check that out. I've had an account for a few months just so people can follow my blog there. The interface is really clean and nice, and you can create groups just like in Reader, but who knows if it'll be able to hold up to the traffic once Reader is gone.

I decided to go with Old Reader, which is based off what Google Reader used to use. I only used Google Reader to follow blogs, so I don't need much. I looked into Bloglovin briefly, but you have to download something, and I didn't want to have to do that. I hope it holds up! I know there are quite a few people who are upset about Google Reader being taken away.

Hahaha - It must have been the same day you posted this entry that I walked by my husband's office and heard him exclaiming over his discovery of this inconvenience. It must have been a pretty big deal, because he rarely reacts audibly to anything. :)
